God has a way of getting His people's attention. We read in Amos how God allowed various adversities to come upon His people in an effort to urge them to return to Him in repentance. He reminded Israel matter-of-factly: Prepare to meet thy God. What will it take for His children to repent and surrender to His will today? Are we prepared to meet Him should He call in the next moment? Are we compelling others to prepare to meet Him?

There is a difference between being a Christian who goes through the motions and has apathy in his/her heart. Our Christian walk is not about being seen and accounted for at Sunday worship services. If we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we must be willing to submit to all that Christ has called us to be.

We read in Romans 1 how the people knew of God but neither acknowledged Him as the God of their lives nor displayed gratitude for their blessings. Our world, our country and our communities need to turn to the One who can save us from our sins and heal our many wounds and social ills.
